Please respect that this is a game in progress, and that comments on this post will be deleted unless you are playing. If you would like to discuss the game then you may do so freely in the Darkest Heresy forums here. Thankyou.
This will be a departure from the regular storyline in which you will not be playing your usual characters. Instead of the acolytes you will be playing as a small group of elite Adeptus Arbites Arbitrators; The Gloom Reapers. They are an adept team, skilled at finding heretics and criminals seeking to flee Imperial justice. The criminals believe the light of the Imperial justice is dimmed by the depths of the deepest levels of the under hive. The Gloom Reapers prove them wrong.
Your mission will take you into those depths and through the realms of gangers, mutants and worse in pursuit of a wanted heretek. Trust in your weapon. Trust in your squad. Above all, trust in the light of the Emperor! ++ Read the rest of this entry ++

Somehow I had managed to completely forget about this awsome event, but none the less Blood Bowl has been released for the PC today. Currently the game is only available as a digital download through Nexway, though I’ve heard talk on the tubes of both retail and Steam releases in September.
Personally I’m seeing some let downs in the release method, namely the seemingly ‘once only’ download and the limited product activations. Both things I would normally stay well clear of, though in this case I may have caved. Of course if you are willing to wait for the later releases neither should be a problem.
You can visit the Blood Bowl site here, or go directly to the store here.

I’ve been trying for a while to find a cheap camera to take pictures of my models with so that I could show them off here. Well, I’ve still not found a cheap camera… But I did pick up an iPhone 3GS, which may serve for now.
So I looked through my recently completed models (there are many that near completeness, few that seem to achieve it) and selected the Techmarine from the Thunderfire Cannon. I’m pretty happy with the model itself and it’s recent, so it seemed like a good choice. The next step was finding a decent way to take pictured without a lightbox, tripod, etc. Suffice to say it involved two rule books, a file, a cup of tea, my desk lamp and a sheet of paper. And some awkwardness trying to hold more things than I have hands for.
The result is these two pictures. The first is unedited apart from some slight colour correction to get the colours closer to the actual model, at least on my screen. The second was run through TiltShift Generator whilst I was playing around, and is mostly getting posted because I like the effect.
So, I’m wondering if anyone has any preference on the images? Any tips as to getting a better one? I’m thinking a tripod and something like the clarifi case with the macro lens might get a sharper image. I’ve considered a lightbox, but the iPhone seems to have issues getting a decent colour balance with a bright white background.
With any luck I’ll get some kind of semi permanant photo area set up, and maybe I’ll manage to more model pics up. Maybe it’ll even convince me to actually finish my models!

Looks like the pre-orders for Planetstrike have hit the GW online stores. We don’t seem to have a full selection of kits yet, but the one that have gone up are looking pretty nice. There’s even a surprise in the form of some new markers.
Bet you want some pictures, right? Prices after the jump.
Cunning users might have noticed a slight update to the site in the form of avatars on comments.
Wordpress only supports 3rd party avatar services rather than users uploading their avatar directly to the site. The service I have chosen is Gravatar, which stands for globally recognised avatar. Wondering how to add an avatar? The Gravatar site is pretty simple, but here is a quick rundown of the process:
That’s all there is to it. Enjoy!

I have to say that I have something of a love for the forces of Nurgle in all their bloated, corpulent and noxious forms. It is actually something of a wonder that I don’t have a Nurgle based CSM force actually, especially considering all the really nice Forge World models they have!
Anyway, I was daydreaming about a potential Nurgle army today when I had an interesting idea for a apocalypse datafax. Thus the Blight Marine was born.

Mmm... Disease...
I have just finished adding the forums to Darkest Heresy, and you can go find them at http://forums.darkestheresy.co.uk, or by following the link in the sidebar. Recent topics are also shown in the blogs footer alongside the recent blog posts and links.
Your username/password for the forums is exactly the same as for the darkestherey.co.uk blog, and logging in to one should log you in to both.
I expect it will have to wait until at least Tuesday due to Real Life™, but I will be filling out the form categories. If you have any suggestions on categories you would like to see then say so.
Likewise, I would be happy (well, maybe not happy exactly!) to hear about any bugs or problems you may encounter with the new forums.
Happy posting,

As I am sure any GM will attest describing a scene in an imaginative and engaging manner can be hard to do, especially if giving the description with little warning.
Many are the times my acolytes have wandered off my laid out path and I’ve fallen to a stammering description of ‘entering a medium sized dark room with a single light… and some crates and stuff piled against a wall.’ Hardly inspiring stuff compared to ‘bursting into a dingy hole of a room, litter and debris scattered across the floor… A single flickering glow lamp illuminates a pile of discarded shipping crates in one corner near a boarded up window.’
But how to improve the quality of your off the cuff narrative? ++ Read the rest of this entry ++
Hot on the heels of Games Workshops newsletter announcement we’ve got some new pictures of Planetstrike from Games Day France ‘09. Looks like a lot of tasty new building kits as well as a few new models for Space Marines, and maybe Imperial Guard and others too.
Images come courtesy of BoLS reader Napalm and his Picasa gallery, via Bell of Lost Souls.
Looks like images from the Forge World open day at Games Workshop HQ are coming in over at the WarSeer forums. Lots of tasty models, and some very interesting stuff slated for development it seems. More pictures after the break.
